The things people ask before trusting a shortener.
Yes. No signup, no login, no cost, nothing to upgrade to.
No. Codes are permanent and served as 301 redirects, so search engines pass authority through to the destination.
Yes. Type one in the Custom name box and your link becomes 99l.in/your-name. Names are 3 to 40 characters, letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, first come first served. Leave it blank and we generate a code that avoids look-alike characters like 0, O, 1 and l.
Put your cursor in the address bar, move to the very start, type 99l.in/ in front of the URL that's already there and press Enter. We shorten that address and hand you the finished link, already copied.
No. Any well-formed http or https address works, even if the page isn't published yet or sits behind a login.
Names imitating banks, wallets or account-security flows are blocked. A link reading 99l.in/bank-kyc-update is a ready-made phishing tool, and one abuse report can get the whole domain blocklisted, which would break every other link on it.
Yes. 15 links a minute per visitor, and 5 a minute for custom names. Exceed them and you get a 429 with a Retry-After header.
Every redirect increments a counter on the link. A self-serve stats page is next on the roadmap; until then just ask and we'll pull the number.
