Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 6 September 2026

These terms govern your use of the URL shortening service at 99l.in ("99L", "we", "us"). By shortening a link, following one, or calling our API, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. The service

99L turns a long URL into a short one and redirects visitors to the original address using a permanent (301) redirect. It is provided free of charge, without an account, and without warranty.

We do not review, endorse or control the pages behind short links. A 99L link is a pointer created by whoever made it, not a recommendation by us.

2. Acceptable use

You must not use 99L to create links to, or in connection with:

  • Phishing, credential harvesting, or any page impersonating another person, brand, bank or service
  • Malware, ransomware, drive-by downloads or exploit kits
  • Spam, unsolicited bulk email, SMS, comments or messages
  • Child sexual abuse material, or content sexualising minors in any way
  • Content that is unlawful in India or in the jurisdiction where it is accessed, including material infringing copyright or trademark
  • Fraud, fake stores, advance-fee scams, or deceptive investment and cryptocurrency schemes
  • Harassment, doxxing, or incitement to violence
  • Disguising the destination in order to defeat a spam filter, security product or platform policy
  • Circumventing our rate limits, or automating the service beyond the documented API

You are responsible for the destination of every link you create, and you confirm you have the right to link to it.

3. Custom names

Custom names (aliases) are allocated first come, first served. Claiming one does not transfer any trademark or other right to you.

  • We reserve names that could be confused with our own pages or with security-sensitive terms, and we automatically refuse names imitating banks, wallets or account-verification flows.
  • We may reclaim a name that infringes a trademark, impersonates someone, or is used in breach of these terms.
  • Names are stored in lowercase. Spring-Sale and spring-sale are the same name.
  • We do not sell, auction or reserve names in bulk, and squatting names for resale is not permitted.

4. Rate limits and API

Fair-use limits apply so the service stays up for everyone:

ActionLimit
Shortening with a generated code15 per minute, 120 per hour, per visitor
Shortening with a custom name5 per minute, 25 per hour, 60 per day, per visitor
Bulk API100 links per request, plus a daily quota attached to your key

Exceeding a limit returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header. Persistently ignoring it may result in a block. API keys are personal to the holder, must be kept secret, and may be suspended if shared or abused.

5. Removal and suspension

We may disable any short link, custom name or API key at any time, without notice, if we believe it breaches these terms or exposes the service or its users to risk. Because abuse of one link can get the whole 99l.in domain blocklisted, breaking every other link on it, we act quickly and err on the side of removal.

To report a link, email [email protected] with the short link and a short description. To request removal of your own link, email [email protected].

6. Availability

We aim to keep short links working permanently and do not expire them. That said, 99L is a free service offered as-is, with no uptime guarantee, no service level agreement, and no promise of continued availability.

Do not use 99L as the sole reference for anything critical, irreplaceable or safety-related. Keep the original URL.

7. Liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of 99L or from any page reached through a 99L link. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from links you create in breach of these terms.

8. Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use 99L after an update means you accept the revised terms. These terms are governed by the laws of India.
